[Nothing quite that interesting. He did give one of the mouse's best friends a Potion once when said mouse thought said best friend was dead and was too dopey to check for a pulse, though. Good times.]
I see. I think there's a lot more to be said for found family than people give it credit, really. I haven't seen my blood family in nearly half my lifetime, but that doesn't mean I don't think of my two best friends like siblings.
I take it Coran isn't here with us, either, though?
My parents perished thousands of years ago, along with the rest of the Alteans. Coran is the only person I have left from home. So I'm just happy to know that he's safe.
[Better than the alternative, it's true. At her confession, though, Axel pauses a moment, frowning. He can relate, but somehow the idea of talking about his own parents feels so alien to him. The 'thousands of years ago' bit isn't lost on him, but for the moment, consolation is more important than confusion over math and alien lifespans.]
I get'cha. My world was swallowed up about 12 years ago, and my parents with it, long before this Storm hit anything. I don't really know if they died, or what exactly happened to the rest of the people. My friend and I managed to survive, along with a handful of others, but no one's really sure what happened to everyone who didn't turn up elsewhere.
Not trying to make it about me, I'm just saying I can relate. Finding a friend in stasis is better than not finding them at all.
[It's far too similar of a story, and her heart aches, both in memory of her own sorrow, but also because of the pain he certainly endured. The storm stole from everyone, but there were the unlucky few who had already lost so much before it ever happened,
Then, trying to lighten the mood,]
And I'm sure Coran will wake up soon enough. I've never known him for sleeping in.
Ah, you've got nothing to be sorry for, princess. It does suck that most of the people I know from home are still sleeping, and that, you know, the world got destroyed again, but making new friends here has taken a little of the sting out, at least.
[Yes, that is a slightly pointed remark in your direction, missy. Axel would love to bump into a few more folks from home, but until such time as he's able, he's certainly not complaining about the new contacts he's made here.]
Whenever he gets around to waking up, you'll have to introduce us. Any friend of yours is a friend of mine, I'd say.

[He's also kind of king of the cosmos, but that might be a little harder to explain.]
You've mentioned your paladin friends before, but who's Coran?
no subject
Coran is my family's advisor
[But that's disingenuous to call him only that,]
But he's like family to me.

2 angsts for the price of one
[Which she'll take, considering,]

what a deal!
