He watches Ren mark another tree, then peers back over his shoulder. He's still really puzzled about how this has been happening; he's sure he's been walking in a mostly straight line, but the forest just never seems to end. "Well, anyway," he says then, "the good news is that not picking a side hasn't been too difficult, so far." He gives a shrug. "Keepin' your nose out of trouble seems fairly simple--just be polite, and whatever faction you happen to be talking to, or whoever's neighborhood you're in, just never say anything nice about the other guys."
He hasn't said anything mean about the other guys, either; it seems keeping neutral is still feasible, for the time being.

I've talked to a few people. I think I might try to live in Olympia to start.
